TEHRAN (Defapress) - Venezuelan sources reported a series of explosions in Caracas as a result of US military attacks and indicated that a military base was targeted.

Eight explosions heard
The AP reported that at least seven explosions were heard in Caracas.
Electricity and the internet were cut off
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Caracas reported widespread flights of fighter jets over the Venezuelan capital and announced that electricity and internet were cut off in some areas of the capital following strong attacks, one of which targeted a military base.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent also announced that one of the attacks targeted the Higuerote Airport in Miranda in northern Venezuela.
Venezuelan media reported that the La Guaira naval base and its main communications tower, the La Carlota base, and the Tiuna military center were targeted.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister: The United States is behind the attacks
In response to the attacks on Venezuela, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Pinto said: The attacks on Venezuela are a clear violation of the UN Charter and threaten international peace and stability. We condemn the attack on our country, which is a violation of the UN Charter.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said: Caracas is also under missile fire.
He stressed the need for an urgent UN meeting to take a position on this issue.
CBS reported that Trump administration officials have been informed of reports of explosions and fighter jets flying over Caracas.
