TEHRAN (Defapress) - French President Emmanuel Macron proudly announced that the Russian-flagged oil tanker TAGOR had been seized in the Atlantic. Macron announced the news on his social media account: "The operation was carried out in international waters, with the support of several partners, including the UK, and in full compliance with maritime law." To emphasize the victory, the French president released a Hollywood-style video of French Army Special Forces disembarking from a helicopter onto the ship's deck, accompanied by upbeat music.

Macron's Bragging about Piracy from Russians

For Emmanuel Macron, boasting about this video is more important than seizing the tanker itself, but it seems that no one is taking his "show of masculinity" seriously. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio openly laughed at his warmongering, recalling that when France needed to move troops, Macron had to borrow planes from the US because he didn’t have any.

But now Macron, with all his weaknesses, has a major success: the seizure of an oil tanker 740 km off the coast, a successful special operation, and most importantly, the seizure of a Russian tanker; this means that the French rooster has managed to hit the Russian bear. Macron, in response to possible questions, emphasized that this was done “in full compliance with maritime law,” and added that the tanker was sanctioned, worked for Russia, and illegally used the flag of Madagascar.

The hunt for Russia’s “shadow fleet” also has economic dimensions, and in this case, the “maritime law” is interpreted in a way that makes it easier for those exercising power. As a result, Russia is really suffering from these actions.

Russian tankers and ships are seized by anyone who dares. Even a small power like Estonia has done so. For France, this was the third seizure. At first, they were apprehensive about Russia's reaction, then they became bolder, and now they are shamelessly and openly humiliating Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reacted to the seizure by saying: "We consider such actions illegal; they border on international piracy." Interestingly, Peskov, by mentioning the phrase "border on piracy," still believes that various countries have not yet crossed the "red line." It is obvious that with such a passive reaction, France, the UK, or Estonia does not care that Russia considers such actions illegal.

The belligerent countries seize Moscow's ships not because they can seize them, but because of Russia's negligence in responding appropriately. Russia's poor response to these maritime piracy attacks has made Europe more determined to bring Moscow's shadow fleet to its knees.
