TEHRAN (Defapress) - Cypriot officials and the UK Ministry of Defense say the UK Royal Air Force base, Akrotiri, in Cyprus, was attacked by a drone last night, causing damage they describe as limited and claiming there were no casualties.

“Information received through various channels indicates that the attack involved an unmanned drone, which caused limited damage,” a Cypriot government spokesman said.
A security alert issued by the UK Bases Administration to residents around Akrotiri advises residents to take shelter in their areas “following a suspected drone strike” until further notice.
UK retains sovereignty over the territory of two bases on the eastern Mediterranean island, which is a member of the European Union. The Royal Air Force bases in Akrotiri, a large, square-shaped peninsula at the southern tip of Cyprus, were last directly attacked by Libyan forces in the mid-1980s.
Earlier, news sources reported that Iranian missiles had hit a UK air base in Cyprus, as well as explosions at US bases in Iraq, Bahrain, and Qatar. The attacks were in response to renewed US and Israeli aggression on Iranian soil.
