Commercial Vessels Requesting Passage Through the Strait of Hormuz Will Not Pay Any Fees for 60 Days

The full text of this statement is as follows:

In implementation of paragraph 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, commercial vessels requesting passage through the Strait of Hormuz must send their application to the Persian Gulf Waterway Authority (PGSA.ir).

Pursuant to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, no fees will be charged to applicants for a period of sixty days, and these costs will be covered by the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Accordingly, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority has been instructed to promptly and with priority process and respond to requests to achieve the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Given the specific conditions and the presence of safety hazards along the passage route, and to ensure safe traffic and prevent maritime accidents, ships must pass along the announced route and at the announced time, so that the possibility of traffic can gradually increase.

The implementation arrangements and technical details of the passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be announced by the Persian Gulf Waterway Authority.

Regarding other issues, including mine clearance, the necessary measures will be taken in accordance with paragraph 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
