Daily criticizes Sr. US official's remarks on N-deal

In fact, the US is hardly after sealing a final deal with the Islamic Republic, added the English-language paper in its Opinion column.

US Under-Secretary of State Wendy Sherman's appears to be trying to make Iran the scapegoat for a possible failure of nuclear talks by resorting to such diplomatic rhetoric.

From another viewpoint, it can be said that Sherman seeks to imply that the US has shown extra flexibility on Iran’s atomic activities and now it’s upon Tehran to make the tough decision. If so, Iran can claim that it has demonstrated maximum flexibility by rolling back its nuclear work and now it is America’s turn to decide how the sanctions will be lifted and if it fails to give assurances about the removal of sanctions, no one should be blamed for the failure of talks but the US, underscored the daily.

Eight rounds of talks have taken place and both Iran-P5+1 fully know each other sides demands and it is based on this mutual understanding, that proposals are being put on the table to hammer out a comprehensive agreement by the November-24 deadline, pointed out the daily.

So far, various proposals have been made, one of which is the shipment of Iran’s low-level enriched uranium to Russia to be turned into fuel rods.

Although none of them has ever been able to break the deadlock, the Americans are actively coming up with new ideas to make a deal possible.

Such proposals, especially the ones that deal with Iran’s enrichment program, are only workable when the Obama administration decides about anti-Iran sanctions without the involvement of the Congress and gives a firm guarantee. The way for a final deal will be paved if this happens.

It is worth recalling that Iran is in talks with the US government and not the Congress. If the White House is unable to assure Iran about lifting the sanctions, it shouldn’t have entered into talks the Islamic Republic, underscored the paper.

Iran is even open to discussion on the volume of uranium enrichment, which is one obstacle to a final accord, provided that the US makes up its mind about the sanctions. The country is ready to accept some restrictions on its nuclear activities to an accord possible and in return expects the other side to take tangible steps, it pointed out.

Legally speaking, the US government is responsible for removing the sanctions and not the Congress, highlighted the daily.

President Obama, as the commander-in-chief of the US Armed Forces, has the final say and is responsible for all decisions made inside the States. Therefore, it’s not acceptable to say that he does not have full authority on removing the sanctions and this seems to be more of a deception, the daily stressed.

Restrictions on Iran’s nuclear drive under a comprehensive deal will not remain in place forever. A final deal will be meant to eliminate ambiguities about Iran’s nuclear energy program over a specific time span and once the period is over, the country, like Japan, Brazil, etc. will be able to continue its activities normally.
